I run interactive online video sessions to assess and therapy children in the UK using specially adapted activities
Does online speech therapy work?
Yes it can. Research shows teletherapy can be just as effective as face-to-face. It is working well for many children of all ages because:
– the child can keep their usual routine at home (no need to leave the house or have a new person visit)
– parents can show me how their child usually plays and interacts at home with them (by video call, or through videos on your phone)
– children from the age of 2 often like the interactive activities, which have been designed to get their attention (e.g. with TV characters)
I use apps which work on most mobile devices. Get in touch if you would like to book a session, or find out more.
What if my child isn’t interested in the interactive activities?
That’s absolutely fine – I use a combination of different methods so they can still be successfully assessed.
What would happen next?
Depending on what I find, I might recommend therapy sessions. I’ll explain the therapy approach to you beforehand and prepare resources where we need them.
How do we get started?
I assess your child’s current communication skills for 60-90 minutes through parent questionnaire, interactive online activities, and analysing them as they play or interact with you (by video call or through videos on your phone). I will then write a short report within 2 weeks.
